If you’ve been on a ‘Venture in the past few months, send me a picture and a paragraph about where you’ve been and all the great things you did. Then, I’ll share them with all the other CubClub™ members in my next newsletter!

Here’s a ‘Venture™Note from my friend Denise and her family. They took a great ‘Venture™ to Carlsbad Caverns and the rest is what we call Teddy’s Travels™ history!.

I wanted to share with you how exciting this book has been for our family!  We came across it last August when we visited Carlsbad Caverns and bought it because we thought it was such an innovative and encouraging way to take our 3 girls (ages 8, 5 and 4) to visit National Parks.  (Our biggest disappointment is that we didn't have it for all of our previous Nat'l Park visits).

It has caused us to totally reevaluate our RV trips.  We use the guide in each section to figure out if there are any parks anywhere near where we are headed.  In April '07 alone we spent the weekend in Death Valley and then another weekend in Joshua Tree.  It is exciting and has given, not only our kids, but my husband and I such an appreciation of the beauty that lies in this country.  This summer we are off to Zion and Yellowstone...and other Nat'l Park sites...we just haven't figured out which ones yet!

We have also discovered the Junior Ranger program that most Nat'l Parks have.  What a great program!  My kids really enjoy the activities and they think it is so cool to get a badge from each park.  We recently spent a weekend in Idyllwild and it was great to hear the kids telling people at the Nature Center that the roadrunner is just like the one they saw in Death Valley.  They are learning about nature and that there are new things to learn everywhere.

And one last thing...our favorite phrase (and I mean FAVORITE) that we tell ANYONE we hike with is "take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but [foot]prints".  My girls completely relate to that and will pick up a stick to walk with, but then leave it, because you "take nothing but pictures."

Wonderful book; terrific inspiration; traveling with a purpose (that's what we call it)!

Thank you.  Oh, I have included some pictures of our recent Nat'l Park visits!

Denice

Now, don’t forget, I need your pictures and stories about your own ‘Ventures. Send me an email to cubclub@tdbpress.com with a JPEG photo and a paragraph or two and we’ll do our best to include it in the next newsletter. I can’t wait to se where you’ve been!
