I’ve Gone Web 2.0!

This Summer I decided to make the move to go Web 2.0. That means you can connect with me in lots of places on the Web. From my Blog, which I’ve been writing since January to my new Yahoo! Group called America’s National Parks, where we can all share our favorite stories, tips and ‘Ventures in our favorite National Parks to my new Facebook Page, where you can join in on the conversation and post a message on my wall, I can’t wait to connect with you in new ways!

CubClub™ Blog

I’ve got a Blog and I just love sharing with you all the cool things going on in our National Parks! It comes out every Tuesday Morning and you can read it in two different places; at Teddy’s Travels or on Blogger. If you subscribe to it in Blogger, you can have it sent your email address when a new entry is posted. You’re sure to have fun and learn LOTS, too!

America’s National Parks Yahoo! Group

Have you ever joined a Yahoo! Group? It’s really easy and when you join AmericasNationalParks you can join in on all the fun. We love to talk about our favorite National Parks. You can even ask questions about Parks you are thinking about going to. Think of it like a big Campfire where you can talk with lots of new friends about all your National Park ‘Ventures!

Check Out My Store!

I’ve got a whole new line of TeddyGear™including Embroidered Caps and DayPacks with the Teddy’s Travels Logo and a picture of ME! I’ve also got new Water Bottles and Luggage Tags. They make great gifts and are sure to make you the most stylish Teddy’s Traveler on the road.

National Park News & Events

Here are some exciting things happening that might just take you on your next ‘Venture™!

Lassen Visitor Center Finally Opens!

Celebrate the grand opening of the park’s first year-round visitor center. The new Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center will include a staffed information desk, exhibit hall, auditorium for the new park film, bookstore, gift sales, food services, first aid room, restrooms, amphitheater, and an after-hours backcountry registration and orientation vestibule.

It’s Teddy Roosevelt’s 150th Birthday!

Learn about Teddy Roosevelt in a number of special events at the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace Historical Site in Manhattan, New York. From a one-man play to a family block party with pony rides, a Junior Ranger program and prizes, you can join in on the celebration October 26 and 27, 2008.

Travel Back In Time To the Stone Age

Ever wonder what it was like to make tools in the Stone Age? Well, here’s your chance to find out. Make  arrowheads and grind corn at the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve on October 18, 2008. The event is part of Louisiana Archeology Month.

Autumn in Great Smoky Mountains

There is so much to do in the Autumn at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. From evening hikes to leaf peeping to ghost stories around the campfire to hayrides at Cades Cove, I wish I could spend a month in the Park. Be sure to check out the Activities Calendar on the NPS website for all the details. I think I’ll try to catch one of the music events.

Christmas In Yosemite

One of my favorite events in a National Park is the Bracebridge Dinner at the Ahwanee Lodge in Yosemite National Park. This is an amazing dinner filled with the spectacle of Elizabethan costume, amazing food and fantastic music. Put it all inside one of the most beautiful lodges in a National Park and you have Bracebridge. Book your ‘Venture early, because tickets sell out really fast.

Autumn In Shenandoah

Autumn in the Appalachians is one of my most favorite times. I love the colors of the trees and the quiet in the Parks. Shenandoah National Park is a great place to get away from it all. There are lots of great Ranger Programs to fill your day unless, of course, you want to just take a quiet walk on a trail among all the beautiful trees. I wish I could be with you.

This Month’s Cub Club™ ‘Venture

I recently went on a great weekend trip to Joshua Tree National Park. We had a great time climbing rocks, going on hikes and taking pictures. Have you been there? Drop me a note and let me know all about YOUR ‘Venture!

A Summer ‘Venture to Joshua Tree National Park

It isn’t a trip to a National Park unless I get my picture taken in front of the “Official Park Entrance Sign”!

Sunrise in the park is beautiful. The shadows on the rocks make them look even more impressive.

Here I am posing with a Teddy Bear Cactus. You sure don’t want to hug one of these!

Our weekend ‘Venture is over as the sun sets on our last day in the Park. I can’t wait to come back to do some hiking when the weather cools down. I hear the wildflowers in the Spring are beautiful. Maybe we’ll come back then.

Have YOU Been On A ‘Venture?

If you’ve been on a ‘Venture in the past few months, send me a picture and a paragraph about where you’ve been and all the great things you did. Then, I’ll share them with all the other CubClub™ members in my next newsletter!

Looking for a Great Gift?

Teddy’s Travels™ - America’s National Parks makes a great traveling, birthday or graduation gift. If you order it on my website, I’ll sign it for you. I’ve also got some great Gift Packs in my NEW Teddy’s Travels Store. You’re sure to make someone really happy as they get ready for their ‘Venture of a lifetime!

Introducing Tedrick’s Cousins™

The Limited Edition Adopt-A-Bear-Of-The-Year

I’ve got LOTS of Cousins and I’ve convinced a few of them to ‘Venture out and join new families just like yours. They’re sure to become your new Best Friend. Since they’re all my Cousins, their last name is “de Bear” but YOU get to give them a First Name and they come with an Official Teddy’s Travels™ Adoption Certificate signed by ME.

Be sure to get yours NOW because there are only a few of them available this year. When they run out, you’ll have to wait until next year to get the new Bear-Of-The-Year.

National Park Service Museum

The National Parks Service will soon have a museum dedicated to the history of the NPS. The goal is to have it completed for the NPS Centennial. What a great opportunity to learn about all  of the great programs and resources the National Parks Service has to offer.
